Ovid

Publius Ovidius Naso

 21 March 43 BC – AD 17/18

Ovid was an Imperial scholar most well-known today for his Metamorphoses.

This was a ground-breaking poem centered on the theme of change brought about by extreme emotional impact.

He wrote many other works such as the Tristis, Ex Ponte, Amores and more.

Metamorphoses was the first long poem written in epic meter akin to that of the Aeneid as well as Odyssey and Iliad. But, the Metamorphoses was not an epic story, rather it contained many different smaller stories linked together by common themes.
